[Review] Blood Type by K.A. Linde

A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.
For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival. In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her. Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed. For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.
Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.

Review

Blood Type by K.A. Linde was such a unique read! I have never read anything like it and I was hooked on it. I was just so curious and wanted to know everything. I am so sad that I finished it so quickly. There is still so much I need to know and what a cliffhanger!

Reyna was a character I enjoyed. She was pushed forward and was always fighting back. I like it when the female leads do that. Reyna knows what she wants and she goes for it. I am just so mad at what happened towards the end! Grr! It drives me mad.

And Beckham. Oh, Beckham. I loved him so much. He was broody, quiet, and stubborn. Everything I love. It is always the ones that are like that who love the fiercest. And wow did he just blow me away. Everything he did was so great. Even before he admitted his feelings he was still sweet with his actions. He was trying to hide it but his emotions peeked through.

I loved the slow burn build up that K.A. Linde created in this book. Let me just tell you that I am dying for the next book!!! I need it now. Blood Type is a series that can absolutely keep you entranced!

That was the moment Beckham appeared in the doorway like a storm cloud. Reyna straightened in her seat at the expression on his face. He walked across the room like a tightly coiled spring ready to explode. “Ah Beckham, there you are,” Harrington said. “Excuse me, William. I need to speak with Reyna. Alone.” She hastened out of her seat and followed him around the corner. He tugged her straight through the kitchens, out the back door, down a corridor, and into a dead end. Then her back was slammed against the brick wall. His fist connected with the wall behind her, and she felt the wall shudder. Debris floated onto her shoulders. “You left,” he growled. “I . . .” “No.” He pressed his finger to her lips roughly. She stopped breathing and just stared up into his eyes as dark as night. Her body trembled under the feral stare. “You left without me.” The silence was weighted. All she could do was sit with their bodies nearly touching. His finger on her mouth. Her mind wandering to hellacious places. “You are my subject. Can you imagine what it was like when I found you missing? When you turned up with three of my kind?” She shook her head minutely. He bared his teeth to her, and she shrank back. “These are meant to drink your blood. To drink you dry until there is nothing left of your body but a dry corpse. We are killers. We don’t hesitate. Just because we’re wearing suits and seem more like you . . . does not mean we are like you. We are not like you. They especially are not like you. The only way you get to the top of Visage is to be fucking ruthless, Reyna. Do you understand?” “You’re . . . scaring me,” she whispered. “Good.”

Reyna Carpenter and Beckham Anderson return in the exhilarating follow-up to the provocative paranormal romance Blood Type.

Sophie: Numbers are my comfort zone, which explains why my sex life is a big fat zero. Then again, if I’m smart enough to earn a PhD, why can’t I calculate a way to get a guy into bed, just to see what all the fuss is about? And Cain Jordan seems hot enough—he’s certainly drunk enough—to show me what I’ve been missing. Judging by the body of evidence, it’s a lot. . . .

It’s time! The LIFT 4 Autism auction is open for bidding until Friday, April 27, 5pm EST.

  A few bidding tips
  1. You must register to bid. This connects any bids you make to an email address and alerts you if someone submits a higher bid, or ultimately if you have the highest bid when the auction closes and you win.
Register, browse and bid here: http://bit.ly/LIFT2018Bid

  2. US Only v. International. Before you bid on an item, please note if it is marked Domestic (US Only) or International. If you are outside the US, bid on and win an item marked US Only/domestic, the donor is not obligated to ship Internationally, and the bid will instead be awarded to the next highest eligible bid.

3. There are about 350 items up for bid. For quick reference, you can view this rough list of items, or you can browse, scrolling from page to page, or you can use the search window to find a particular item.

4. When bidding closes, the person with the highest bid at that time is the winner and will be automatically alerted at the email address they used to register.

[Review] Needing Him by Kennedy Fox

Evan Bishop is your typical hotshot doctor. Hardass, brooding, and all business. Instead of working on the family ranch, Evan broke the mold and became an ER doctor. He’s good with his hands—in more ways than one—smart as a whip and is the definition of God’s gift to women. Being a gentleman is in his Southern roots, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t flawed. Exclusive dating has never been a top priority and his tragic past makes him stay at arm’s length. Deciding to let loose for a wild night, he takes a page from the Bishop brother’s relationship book and hooks up with a mysterious girl he’ll never have to see again, which is perfect for this self-proclaimed bachelor. Emily Bell is a city girl through and through but is determined to get away from her family and past. All she wants is a fresh start and to make a name for herself in the medical field. No random hookups and no dating coworkers—that’s her new motto after being burned time and again. When she agrees to attend a wedding as a plus-one, she’s soon ditched and left to drink solo—but not for long. Mr. Suit is the ultimate temptation with his Southern charm, messy blond hair, and irresistible sex appeal. Everything about him screams bad news, but he makes her reconsider her rules just for one night. After all, some rules are made to be broken. They want the same thing—one night of passion then they’ll go their separate ways. No cuddling afterward. No next day phone calls. No awkward goodbyes. Too bad the universe has other plans—one that’ll be obvious when they report to work on Monday morning. *A contemporary romance with a little Southern drama. This is book 2 in the Bishop Brothers series. Each book features a different brother and can be read as a complete standalone. HEA guaranteed!* Not suitable for readers under 18 due to adult language and sexual content.

Review

Needing him by Kennedy Fox was such a great read! I was absolutely hooked and I wanted to read it all in one go. Taking Him was ok but I wasn’t impressed by it but Needing Him was totally different. I loved it. It was steamy and the perfect friends to lovers book. It kept me wanting more and I didn’t want it to end.

Evan was such a great character. He was a mix of independent, stubborn, and sexy. He pulled you in with the way he spoke. I wanted to hate him because he was so controlling but there was no way I could. He was the perfect mix of everything that he made you want him even more. Emily was a strong character as well. I loved that she would always stand up for herself and she spoke up really well. I loved reading her POVs because they were so unique and interesting to read.

Kennedy Fox did create a beautiful world with these books. So far I am in love with this second book and I am glad to read more books from the series. I don’t know if this one can be topped. I loved it that much!

I caved.   Fuck me. I caved, and now he thinks he’s in control and God’s gift to the world.   Fucking great.   I won’t let him manipulate me with sex. He must not be that smart if he thinks that’s actually going to work. I said those things in the heat of the moment and because I really needed to fucking come, but that doesn’t mean I meant it. Hell, I would’ve told him the sky was purple if that meant he’d give me what I needed.   Regardless, that was really damn hot. The way I yelled at him, and he yelled back, and then we just attacked each other. Every moment of our first night together has replayed in my head since it happened, but now… angry Evan is the one who will haunt me in my dreams. Angry Evan is hot and demanding and knows just how to tease the fuck out of me. I almost hate him for it. Except I could never hate a man who knows how to worship my body like he does.   But God, does he really have to be such a controlling asshole?   I scoop my scrubs and shoes off the floor and adjust my just-fucked hair. Once my top is on, I search for my panties. When I don’t find them on the floor, I shake out my scrub bottoms, but they aren’t there either. What the fuck?   Panic starts to surface at the realization that I lost my damn panties. Shit, shit, shit.   My pager beeps, and it’s painfully obvious I’m going to have to put my pants on without them. Quickly, I finish getting dressed and push my shoes on before grabbing my lab coat and the soiled shirt and flying out the door.   I throw Evan’s shirt in the trash before anyone can see me and ask questions.   Rushing to the nurses’ station for an update, I look around but don’t see any commotion or people scrambling like normal. “What’s going on? You paged me?” I ask, trying to catch my breath.   Fiona looks at me like I’ve gone crazy. She swallows and lowers her eyes before bringing them back up to look at me. She witnessed the heated argument back in the trauma room, and now she looks uncomfortable as hell. “Dr. Bishop asked me to page you. He wanted me to tell you that your break is over and to get back to work.” I can tell she’s uneasy delivering the news, but that doesn’t stop the anger from brewing inside me.   The vein in my forehead is about to burst, but I remind myself to play it cool. For all they knew, Evan sent me on the break to calm down, and now I’m the one looking like a slacker.   “Okay. Thanks.” I pinch my lips together to prevent any further words from spewing out of me. No one can know that Evan and I are…whatever the hell we are. Considering I came to this hospital to make a name for myself all on my own, the last thing I need is people thinking I sleep my way to the top.   Crap.   “Dr. Bell,” Evan barks from the other side of the room. He’s holding a pile of charts in his hands that are no doubt from the huge fire incident that just unfolded.   Taking a deep breath, I put my lab coat on and dig my stethoscope from the pocket and wrap it around my neck. We have to act impartially to each other publicly, but hell, I didn’t realize how hard it’d be now that we’re together.   “Yes, Dr. Bishop?”   He doesn’t even look up at me when I approach him, and I hate that it irritates me.   “I need you on beds seven through fifteen until the next shift rotation, then finish these charts before you leave.” His head tilts up, his lips in a firm line as he piles the stack in my arms. “I also need an update on the Brauer kids once an hour.”   Swallowing, I adjust the charts in my arms to prevent them from falling. I won’t let my pride get in the way of doing my job, and if charts are what I need to do right now, then I won’t make a scene. At least not in front of everyone. However, once we’re alone, I’m going to give him a piece of my mind for treating me like a damn intern again.   “Absolutely. Anything else, sir?” My tone is laced with fake sweetness, and he doesn’t flinch a beat at it.   “Yes, actually.” He takes a step forward and dips his head until his mouth hovers over my ear. “Make sure those charts are done correctly before you leave. I’ll be looking through them extensively.”   “Of course.” I grind my teeth, wishing I could give him a piece of my mind right now.   “And since I know you’re going commando, I won’t ask you to perform any oral procedures.” He winks before walking away, making my blood boil.   That asshole stole my panties!

[Blog Tour] Love Again by Kelly Elliott

Jonathon Turner is going to be the death of me. Maybe not the death of me…but my panties for sure! They seem to disintegrate the moment he touches me. Looks at me. Smiles at me. Talks to me. It’s more than physical. He’s breaking through an impenetrable wall. There’s a problem though—he’s younger than me. Six. Years. Younger. Let’s not forget he’s also one of my brother’s best friends. Oh, the other problem I forgot to mention… I never wanted to fall in love again. But you know what they say….never say never.

Excerpt
I didn’t hear a word that the interior designer was saying. I was focused on the way Jonathon looked in those Wranglers. And his boots. And the freaking black cowboy hat that made his grey eyes stand out. I swallowed hard.
Jesus…could this guy get any hotter?
Jonathon caught my stare from across the room. When he smiled my panties nearly disintegrated. The man had never even touched me, and yet one look from him and I was damn near panting.
Yes, he could get hotter. Christ Almighty.
Before I could stop myself, my tongue ran over my dry lips. Jonathon’s brows rose and his boyishly handsome smile turned into a sexy-as-hell grin. When his eyes smoldered, my breath hitched.
I wiped my brow. Shit, is it hot in here?
Jonathon knew where my dirty little mind had taken me, and I was pretty damn sure his was going in the same direction. I closed my eyes and tried not to picture anything sexy, but failed. Me…up against the wall with him buried deep inside me, giving me a long overdue orgasm.
“Waylynn? Waylynn?” Ann’s voice pulled me from my naughty thoughts.
Popping my eyes open, I cleared my throat. “What? Huh?”
With a sweet smile, Ann repeated the question I had totally tuned out.
“The color scheme. Are you good with it?”
I frowned. What in the heck was she talking about? Color scheme? “Umm.”
The young woman waited patiently, while I stood there with my mouth open like an idiot.
“Color scheme?” I asked with a slight smile.
Ann laughed. “Did you even hear a word I said?”
My eyes darted to Jonathon. He was leaning against a desk in the middle of the room. It was the only piece of furniture that had been left by the previous owners of this space. His arms were now crossed over his massive chest, and he wore a shit-eating grin. Did the man know how freaking handsome he was? That sex appeal dripped off of him?
He winked, and I had to lock my knees to keep from falling.
Bastard.
He knew exactly where my mind had gone, because his was there as well.
Turning back to the interior decorator, I replied, “I’m so sorry. Jonathon was distracting me.”
One quick glance back and Jonathon’s smile vanished, replaced by a shocked expression. “Me?” he asked.
I nodded. “Yes. You.”
Ann was now staring at Jonathon. I could see by the look in her eyes and the way she chewed her lip that she was having similar thoughts. It was obvious by the way she was trying not to look in his direction while she talked. She was probably the same age as he was, and that pissed me off. Then again, I had to remind myself that Jonathon hadn’t been staring at Ann. He’d been staring at me.
“What did I do?” Jonathon asked.
I wanted to say that his hotness was making my panties wet, and the throbbing between my legs was making it hard to think, but I decided it was best to avoid the truth.
“That desk you’re leaning on. I keep wondering why the previous owner left it?”
Jonathon looked down at the desk as Ann asked, “Do you want to keep the desk? It would be beautiful refinished.”
I shrugged. “I’m not sure.”
Jonathon walked around it. “I’m sure we could put this to good use. I can come up with an idea or two.”
His head lifted and his eyes caught mine. I swore they turned as dark as the night sky. I swallowed, trying to ignore the pulse between my legs.

Review
To start off, I have to say this book cannot, I repeat CAN NOT be read as a stand-alone.

Oh this book. I swear every time I read the next book in this series, I fall in love even more and have a new favorite. Waylynn and Jonathan’s story was so sweet and perfect for them. Each page brought new amazing pieces to their story and you saw different things that were happening with Waylynn and Jonathan as the other siblings were experiencing their moments too.

The emotions I felt with Waylynn were so different than the others within the Parker family stories. She is intense, she is fierce and she is strong. My heart burst for her happiness at times and broke for her at other times. She is a woman who has gone through struggles and only wants to be happy.

Jonathan Turner is a man that I wish I could find. He is so sure of his love and need for Waylynn in his life. Watching him prove to her that she wants him was amazing. I couldn’t help but fall more and more in love with him.

Everything about Love Again was amazing. The journey of emotions you feel from Kelly’s writing is amazing. I can’t wait for more from the Parker siblings.
